Star fruit tree.

Once upon a time, a family with two brothers lived in a small village. When their parents died, the greedy old brother took over almost fortune of their family, leaving for the young brother just a small cottage and a star fruit tree.

Every day, the young brother poured water into a star fruit tree. In next to no time, the star fruit tree blossomed and had a lot of star fruits. The young brother took the star fruits and went to supermarket sold them. He just had enough money to buy a little rice to eat.

One day, a huge eagle flew to a star fruit tree. It ate the star fruits. The young brother was very sad. He said:” You ate my star fruits, I will be starve.” And he cried.

A huge eagle replied:” Eat star fruits to pay gold; tomorrow bring the three feet bags to take the gold.”

A next day, a huge eagle came and picked up the young brother and flew through forests, over mountains, through a very wide and deep sea to a big island.The island was filled with gold. The young brother became a rich person.

He bought the farms, orchards, he planted a lot of fruit trees, he praised up animals. He created a lot of jobs for everybody. The small village became populous and wealthy.

In contrast, old brother was too lazy, he only to squandered his money and was a playboy, increasing deteriorating, gradually sold off the wealth of their parents.

He saw his young brother who suddenly become rich. He insisted his young brother changed for him a star fruit tree. He wished:"One day the huge eagle would come back to eat the star fruit, so he could be very rich again."

But he was too greedy. he brought a ten feet bag, he took a lot of gold. It was too heavy for the huge eagle to carry, and lost his balance, so he fell into the sea and disappeared.

Last week, I was listing in computer at ESL class. My friend who sat near me, she was reading the lessons in her computer. Suddenly, I heard someone call me:" Dung, can you help me?"
I took off my headphones and put them on the table. And I went to my friend to help her.
Afterward, I came back my computer, and continued listening, but I didn't hear anything. I turn up the volume, but I still didn't hear anything. I turn up one more time, so no sound. I checked my headphone once more, and I realized my headphone were on the ears my friend. At that moment, my friend looked at me and we both realized, We are wearing each others' headphones! Just both burst out laughing.

Dear hiring manager.

My name is Dung Nguyen, I am writing to apply for a position as a designer.

I’m interested in about fashion. I used to work as a seamstress, and I also am a designer too. I have over 10 years of experience working at this job in my country. I have had a passion for this work since I was young. I can design and make a new style following the customers request. I always respect the idea and favorites of customers. I love my job.

I am a hard worker, I work fast and accurately; sometimes I also help my coworkers whenever I can. I like to work as a team player. I understand my responsibility, and I believe it’s very important to work together with everybody. I am also bilingual...

I usually think about a new style while I drive a car on the street, or whenever I have spare time. I use the leftover material to make a new style. I can readjust the mistakes of the fabric so that it becomes a new design.

I can work in anywhere. I like to look at the people who wear the beautiful clothing I design. They became attractive people and classy people. So I think the products of company will both satisfy market fashion and become new models in the future.

Working at clothing design is my dream, and I hope will be able to use my abilities soon.

Homeschooling: The benefits.

Children often take advantage of outside as: museums, parks, libraries…

They have a lot of opportunities in their life. And they impact outside more schooling.

But homeschooling is only good for kindergarten, because after they grow up, they need to learn more high level, so the parents will be spending a lot of money for the tutor. It’s very expensive.

In homeschooling has bad student environment. Some students who are denied in publish school, and then their parents must to send them to homeschooling, so the children will be influent with bad student.

Schooling: The benefits.

School discipline will be better for children. They must to learn, play, eat, bread on time, because they had scheduled before by their teacher. They have to know tomorrow what they learn. They would catch something they learn, and remember quickly and accurate, and they feel comfortable after they finish.

And parents don’t worry about paying in money for school.

The publish school is very good for children in the United Stated.

After children gradual they will find a job easy.

Several schools are well known and popular, we must to concern about the education of our children. It’s very important for children in their future.

In my own experience the schooling is better than homeschooling.

My own experience for schooling and homes schooling. when I had a first child, he was 6 years old. Every morning, I usually took him to the park near my home for him to play a bout 20 minutes before him to school. One day, he told me:" Mom I want to play soccer with my friends in the park before I go to school". I disagreed. I thought, he was too small ages and his friends the same. They had to need their parents took care. They couldn't play themselves without their parents.
Every afternoon, after my son came home from school, he ate dinner at 6 p.m. He was permitted to watch TV 30 minutes, but only cartoons. And he took a shower before he was finished homework, and went to bed.
Every week, he has swum twice a week. In my country, elementary school off on Thursday and Saturday, so he had along break time.
I schedule full time for my son. I didn't want him to have spare time because he had to learn more English, music, sport. It would be convenient for him when he grew up.
And in the summer I usually took my children to the beach, before they going to start a new school year. And in school also was the best safety for children.
Several years later, when my son and his friends grew up, he had two friends on his groups infected HIV and when they only were 18 years old. It's very dangerous if without adult take care them.
I think schooling or homeschooling must to combine for children to feel comfortable and happy in their life. And we have to notice ours children when they watch TV. What kind do they watch TV?. Is it appropriate with their ages?. How many hours they watch TV?. We have to limit our children. It's very important in their future. Although, the children go to school or at home, we must to know what do they like? and what they don't like?. We must be concerned about our children more and more...

A Bad Experience...

Dear New Immigrant,
BE CAREFUL! NOT ALL FELLOW IMMIGRANTS ARE HONEST!
Just last week, I got hired by a classmate. I didn't have experience. I thought about it simply. She was going through a divorce. She cried and told me to help her pick up her children at school. She would to pay me. She took a copy of my green card copy, social security number, driver's license, and apply to Department of Social & Health Services (DSHS). She told me:" Government will pay for me."
Every day at 8:00a.m I drove my car and took her children to the bus, and I went to the supermarket bought some foods for her family. And at 11:00 a.m I picked up her children came home. I worked for her for several days . Finally, I asked her:" How much will you pay for me? Do you pay for me hourly or monthly?". Did you sign the contract I gave you? She suddenly was angry, and didn't answer me. After that, she called me and gave me only $40 dollars for the 4 days I worked at her home.

I asked her to return my green card copy, social security number, and driver's licence, but she didn't return my documents. I called her over 10 times, but she didn't answer. I went to her house and called her, she didn't open the door. I still haevn't gotten my copies back.
I want to write a letter to new immigrants about my experience be careful when you find a job. Always ask for schedule and contract before you work. And don't give away your information.

I lived in a small backward country, uneducated and with a lack of knowledge. After the war ended, the just lile everyone else, my family wanted to move to an other country, but we couldn't afford it. I tried several times to leave my country, but did not succeed. I had to work a lot; I lost track of time. In my mind I was constantly, thinking about how much I wanted to leave. I always thought about it .
For a long time, I was married; I have two children, I still think I will be to go to the U.S. I sent my children to English school.
In my country, the tuition for English school is very expensive, but I still struggled to earn money for my children to go to school. I hoped that one day my family would go to the U.S.
Today, I have an opportunity to came to U.S. I am very lucky, and happy. I want to open my hands to help all the immigrant people like me, and work together.
In my experience, we must to learn, and learn a lot. If we stumble, let's stand up and continue to go forward.

Pursuit of Happyness.

For a long time , I didn't go to movies in the theater, because I didn't have spare time. I was too busy, but I like to see movies.
Last summer quarter, I watched the movie: "Pursuit of Happyness" in my class. I'm interested in Will Smith, who acted as Christopher in the film. He was a good father. He was a strongman, and very smart. He has trouble to his wife Linda, who leaves him and moves to New York. He has to take care his son. The life is very hard in that time, the economy bad. He sells scanner machine. But they don't sell well, so he wants to look for a new job.
One day, he send his machine for a hippie girl, and lose it while he is applying for a job.
He has a parking ticket when he is marketing for sell machine to the doctor.
He has to go to jail for unpaid parking tickets. After he leaves prison, he gets a chance to fight for a stockbroker internship position at Dean Witter, offering a more promising career at the end of a six month unpaid training.
No home, no job, no money: he becomes homeless. He has to stay in a bathroom at a train station, and must scramble from learn stockbroker class every day to the Methodist Church which offers shelter to the homeless.
Despite more and more hardships, he didn't give up. Finally, he got his dream job. He cried when he walked out on street between a lot of busy people walking past him. He rushed to his son's day care, and held him. He became a successful in (stockbroker).

I am a morning person, and also a night person.

I am a morning person, and also a night person. I have a lot of work to do. I am taking several ESL class; writing, reading, listening, and talk time class.
Every morning, I wake up early at 6:30 a.m. I clean up around my house, I do exercises on the walking machine in my house for 20 minutes, I drink a cup of milk with cereal or other foods I like. I read books out loud 1 hour. I review my lessons. I practice typing. I sit at my computer anytime I have.
Everything is so new, and I have so must to learn. The weather here is a little cold in the winter, but in the spring the trees have a lot beautiful flowers. In the summer I can go outside. I fell amazed at the squirrels and rabbits that run around the houses and trees. And in the autumn I can see many trees with leaves that change color, and It is very beautiful. I love this country because it makes me feel peace and warm.

Welcome to class.

Today, I came back to my class. I wanted to review all my lessons I have learned in last summer. I came to the States. I have gone half a around the world. Everything was new. I must learned English. I must have to drive. I took a driver license test, bought a car and insurance, looked for a job, rent a house, and bought a television and a computer which have helped me study English and study about the community.
But, life is not very easy. I can't speak English and can't listen to all the people around me. I can't go to school, can't look for a job. It made me feel like a dumb, deaf and disabled person. I was very up set, but I had no choice. What should I do? Everyone is the same. I was born, grew up, and had a lot of brothers, sisters and relatives, and near and far neighbors. I went to school and met more people, made friends with them. I got married and had children, raised them up and kept moving forwars.
The time is still passing, never stop. Are you a lucky or unlucky person? Will you succeed in life or not? One day you wake up, you will have a new day, a new road, and you will keep going straight forward, step by step...

I am interested in studying English. I am reading, writing, listening, and speaking … but it isn’t very easy. Almost all people from the other countries have different sounds, so I have trouble with pronunciation, sometimes I want to give up, but the time never stops. And I don’t like to sit still. I go out, I look for a job, I read newspapers, I search Craigslist, and I ask my friends, but it is very hard for me. Nevertheless I want to learn more English.
Writing has been my passion since I was young, and I am also interested in writing in English, but it is very hard and complicated. First, I write drafts of a paper, after I read one time, I review Subject + Verbs + Article + Adjective + Nouns. I adjust sentences, vocabulary mistakes, and I summarize the purpose of the lesson or topic. But it is very difficult for readers to understand what I write! So my teacher fix for me. There are always mistakes, and these help me learn new vocabulary and grammar.

In the future.

Last week, I learned about Mr.Putter lived alone. He remembered when he was young, he wished a plane. Now he has his plane, but he is old. He decided to give his plane to children. He though the children will be happy, strong, and grown up believing in themselves.

The same with my life when I was young, I wished for a toy, but my family never bought for me, because I have a big family. There are 7 brothers and 1 sister, my mother took care of our family. Only my father was working, he was in the army,and make just enought money for food of the family. After several years, I grew up, I got married, I had children of my own. When they were little I bought a lot of toys for them but when they were 10 years old . They took their toys and gave them to the children who lived in an orphanage. They felt very happy, I was also very happy.
Today, I go to school every day. I haven't had a job a long time, but I still strive to improve. I am going to new classes to learn about giving care for old adult and elders living alone, or orphans who can't take care of themselves.

In my classes. There are 2 class offerings. One class is taught in Vietnamese language, the other in English language. Even though my English is not perfect, but I want to challenge myself. I chose to learn English language class. I always think ahead.
I wish I could get a job, and earn a lot of money. I will come back my native country or other country. I am going to buy a lot of toys or food for poor children. I love children.

A near miss.

I go to Library twice a week. The street from my home to Library Renton is very near about 10 minutes driving.
One day, I went to Library. My house is at 904 Sunset Blvd Ne. When I turned left lane suddenly, there is a yellow taxi car on my right also turned left across my car. I felt very afraid, It occurred suddenly, I had no time to react, I couldn't calm down and then the taxi car turned right into the fire station, and backed up in front of my car, one more time my car almost hit it. I was very peeved, behind my car, an other car also very peeved same to me. They honked their horn. The taxi didn't follow the rules, and was very careless. I realized that if I had not been very careful, I would have gotten a ticket or gotten into an accident.
I'm a careful person. In the street, there will be injure even death can happen instantly if you not alert notice and careful.

A Perfect Day.

For me, a perfect day includes geting up early, exercising about 30 minutes, reading books 45 minutes, drinking a cup of milk in the morning, making some breakfast for children, reviewing lesson in my blogspot, reading some my friends's blogspot. And going to supermarket buy some foods, some stuff I need. Cooking some foods for dinner, having time to talk with my family and watch T.V. It's a my perfect day.
In my country, a perfect day includes going to beach in the morning, eating breakfast in outside and drink a cup of milk, talk together with my family and going to the park.

I came to the United State four years ago. I didn't have a car, It's very hard for us, and It's common with everybody lived in the US. If you do not have a car, you can not go to school or go to work. You will waste a lot of hours. The first year, I rented an apartment on 192rd St near Fairwood Library. We didn't have a car, my son went to school in Bellevue, he got up early, he walked to the bus station. It took him 45 minutes to walk to the bus stop, and another 45 minutes to get to school. He lost too much time. After that I bought an old car but It's not good, It was a gas guzzer, we sometimes had to fix it, and if It snowed in the winter, It stalled. It was terrible.
I decided to buy a new car but the insurance is too expensive, and there is not enough parking in school or downtown. If you go to downtown. You have to pay for paking in an expensive parking lot. Sometimes we had a little accident, by car go scratched by someone, but when I told my insurance agency, I had to pay for it, and my rates went up as well.
The best part about having a car is: It's very convenient for transportation.
The worst part about having a car is: Insurance is very expensive.

The Best and Worst of: having a car.

The new class in Summer.

Hi! My name is Dung, I'm from Vietnam. I want to learn more English about culture and history,geography of the other country. I say hello to new friends. I invite to everybody to my blog and talk about customs, foods, celerations of their country.
In my country, the weather is very hot and crowded, but the beach is very long, it stretch from South to North and are beautiful. In the Summer, almost of the peole like to go the beach. The costumes and celerations are the same as China. The New year is January(lunar calendar)and lasts over a month. You can to travel to my country, you can see everything is very new: new houses, new cars, new motocycles, and people wear new clothes in the New year. You can see fireworks at midnight of the New year. This is a custom of Vietnam.
